Monday is always a catch up day. Especially now with working from home during this crazy COVID-19 period. People seem to be more inclined to work at unusual hours, not respond as quickly as they would if you can ask face to face, and, as a result, I’ve found my inbox on a Monday morning is more full than it used to be where people are working over the weekend.
Now, this is something I’m trying my hardest not to do. I’ll work slightly later in the evenings, but I’m trying not to, and attempting to keep to my existing working hours. Mainly for my own sanity, but also to keep some sort of normality for my 5 year old. Once 5pm comes, it’s my time with him. That’s one thing lockdown did give me, more time with my son, and I’m not intending to give that up too quickly. I’ve already made it quite clear that I have no intention of returning soon, and thankfully, it’s been partly agreed that because I haven’t had technical issues, I’m not needed back in the office too soon.
I’ve also enjoyed my morning a bit more. Again, more time with my son, as I used to leave the house at 7:40. Now, I leave the sofa around 8:45 and walk to the kitchen. It’ll be interesting to see how things change again come September when he is supposed to be returning to school.
Here’s my Day 2 post, in case you missed it.
Don’t think of introversion as something that needs to be cured… Spend your free time the way you like, not the way you think you’re supposed to.
